# Brewing a Cup of Pour-Over Coffee

By Drew Breunig

- [ ] Boil water to 200°F (93°C).
- [ ] Place a filter in the dripper and rinse it with hot water.
- [ ] Discard the rinse water and place the dripper on a cup or carafe.
- [ ] Measure and grind coffee beans to a medium-coarse grind (about 1-2 tablespoons per 6 ounces of water).
- [ ] Add ground coffee to the filter and gently shake to level the bed of grounds.
- [ ] Start a timer and pour a small amount of hot water (about twice the weight of the coffee) over the grounds to bloom for 30-45 seconds.
- [ ] Slowly pour the remaining hot water in a circular motion, maintaining an even flow, until you reach the desired amount.
- [ ] Allow the coffee to drip completely through the filter into the cup or carafe.
- [ ] Remove the dripper and discard the used grounds and filter.
- [ ] Stir the coffee, take a sip, and enjoy.
