# Create a StepList

Basic instructions for writing a StepList documenting a routine.

- [ ] <strong>Create: </strong>Click the “<mark>+</mark>” button in the top navbar to open the “<mark>Create a New List</mark>” modal. Title your list and give it a description. <br><br>If you want to generate steps for the list using AI, click “<mark>Create &amp; Generate Steps</mark>.” Otherwise, click “<mark>Create</mark>” to create an empty list.
- [ ] <strong>Write:</strong> Type a new step in the text field at the bottom of your list. Use the formatting buttons, if you’d like, to add <strong>bold</strong>, <em>italic</em>, or <mark>highlighted</mark> text.<br><br>Click “<mark>Save Step</mark>” to save your changes.
- [ ] <strong>Edit: </strong>Use the <mark>six-dot handle icon</mark> on the right side of a step to click-and-drag a step to a new position in the list. <mark>Click a step</mark> to open the edit view to make changes or delete it.
- [ ] <strong>Save: </strong>Click “<mark>Save &amp; Close</mark>” when you’re done to view your new list.
- [ ] <strong>Activate:</strong> To use your list, click “<mark>Activate</mark>” to make your list available for use. Click “<mark>Activate Privately</mark>” to make this only available to you.
