# Make Coffee With An Aeropress

By Drew Breunig

Aeropress's suggested instructions for brewing coffee.

- [ ] Push plunger out of chamber.
- [ ] Put filter in filter cap.
- [ ] Twist filter cap onto chamber
- [ ] Stand chamber on sturdy mug and put one rounded scoop of fine drip grind coffee in the chamber.
- [ ] Shake the chamber lightly to level the ground coffee.
- [ ] Add hot water up to the level 1 line on the chamber. Use 175F water for hot brewing, room temperature water for cold brewing.
- [ ] Stir about 10 seconds for hot brewing or 1 minute for cold brew.
- [ ] Insert the plunger and press gently, pausing when you feel resistance, until the plunger reaches the grounds.
- [ ] Take the Aeropress off the mug, remove the filter cap, and push the plunger to eject the used coffee into a compost bin. Rinse the Aeropress.
- [ ] Add hot water to your coffee if you'd like an Americano, warm milk if you want a latte, and ice water for a cold brew. Or drink as-is for an espresso!
