# Newsletter Pre-Publishing Checklist

Preflight checks before you hit send.

- [ ] Step back from the letter for at least an hour (more is better!) then sit down for a final read through. Focus on typos and extraneous wording.
- [ ] Consider the entire piece and ask, "Does this note have a clear takeaway with supporting material?" If not, pare it down and figure out what the note is actually about (in this case, you'd probably want to abandon this list here!)
- [ ] Ensure images have appropriate alt-text that not only describe the image but the purpose of the image within the context of your piece.
- [ ] Brainstorm 5 to 15 subject lines. Then pick the winner.
- [ ] Brainstorm 5 preview texts. Pick the winner.
- [ ] Write out copy for plugging this new letter on appropriate social media networks. Double check it, many algorithms will penalize you for editing after publishing.
- [ ] Read everything again, once more.
- [ ] If you're happy, hit send.
