# Preparing the House For Vacation

Tasks to complete at home before leaving for vacation.

- [ ] Clean the house using the weekly checklist.
- [ ] Check the laundry and ensure there's nothing in the machine and the waster door is ajar.
- [ ] Move the car(s) appropriately. If taking a car, park the remaining car in the driveway backwards or in the garage.
- [ ] Water the plants. If someone is coming to take care of them, consolidate them in a few locations.
- [ ] Adjust the thermostat, to 55 degrees in winter and 80 in summer.
- [ ] Empty all the trash, recycling, and compost.
- [ ] Unplug electronics and shut off power strips that don't need to be plugged in while you're gone.
- [ ] Double check all the windows and doors are locked.
